Massage is one of the oldest healing arts: Chinese records dating back 3,000 years document its use; the ancient Hindus, Persians and Egyptians applied forms of massage for many ailments. Today, the benefits of massage are varied and far-reaching. Massage therapy has also proven beneficial for many chronic conditions, including lower back pain, arthritis, fatigue, high blood pressure, diabetes, depression, and more. And, as many will attest, massage also helps relieve the stress and tension of everyday living.

Michelle Pereira was previously a professional dancer in San Francisco and New York. Dance is a dangerous and rigorous profession and between rehearsals and shows, often time there is not a top priority for a dancer to receive the physical therapies that will help lessen the impact dancing has on the body. Unfortunately Michelle fell victim to an injury and had to discontinue her career as a dancer. Realizing that her injury could have been avoided with the proper physical therapy, such as massage, she gained interest in the field and earned her Associates Degree as a New York State licensed massage therapist from the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences. Now the owner of My Higher Ground, Michelle uses her body to help rejuvenate and heal her clients bodies not only physically, but mentally as well. She understands the stresses that everyday life can have on the body, and strives to be someone who can help make it melt into the background for at least an hour or two.

It’s a known fact; word of mouth is one of the most effective ways of advertising. Nearly 80% of consumers trust peer recommendations, which can come in the form of blog posts, youtube videos, twitter and facebook updates. With this information accessible to business owners, why are they still reluctant to ditch the traditional PR tactics of flyers distribution and colorful A-frames and pick up the viral approach?

We are amongst Generation-Y, also known as the tech savvy generation. Unlike previous generations going to war, Generation-Y is armed with Blackberrys, iPhones, Androids, laptops
and other competent gadgets at all times, that can shoot faster than a bullet.

Generation Y is well educated and uses Social Media outlets as means of news, self-expression, advertisement, and social interactions. In hours someone can upload a video to youtube and receive millions of viewers, which can result in product sales or heighten exposure.

If times are changing, why haven’t businesses? Social Media is headed towards the “Return of the People”. Previously, reducing the corporate headcount was of precedence, but companies like Zappos grasps the importance of having manpower. Actually hiring people to handle their twitter and facebook have reduced their $20 million advertising budgets.

Business owners need to ask themselves this, what will happen when websites are replaced by apps and recommendations are posted on the Internet with a tap of the iPhone?

SOCIAL MEDIA FOR KIDS®

Brooklyn, NY, January 10, 2011- Newspaper articles, interviews with popular new channels, and meeting with politicians such as Assemblyman Karim Camara and New Jersey Senator Sandra B. Cunningham, are but a few of the accomplishments attained by the diligent team behind Social Media For Kids®. A program unlike any other, Social Media For Kid’s® mission involves using internet based media platforms to educate children on how to promote themselves in positive light. In an age when rapidly advancing technology is outgrowing adult users, Social Media For Kids® works on preventing misuse of social media networks by opening the lines of cyber-communication between parents and their tech-savvy youth.
With a clear understanding of the major role technology has taken in our daily lives, several schools have reached out to Social Media For Kids® for support. After several talks with Dr. Appea, principal of Dr. Rose B. English School, it has been confirmed that beginning on February 3rd, 2011 from 1:00-2:30pm Social Media For Kids® will officially be a part of the school’s daily curriculum.
Similarly, Mott Hall Bridges Academy, the pioneer school to have this program in its educational program, is striving to get the participants even more involved through the introduction of new technological developments. Principal Nadia Lopez has purchased IPads</a (which have been praised for their use in the classroom by the New York Times) for all of her scholars participating in the Social Media For Kids® course-furthering the positive outlook of this experience. Within the workshops, children are taught to navigate through the touchscreen device quickly and effectively. They are educated on how to download books and applications, use scholarly sources, and are given reading assignments to evaluate the progress of their work.
As successful as this program is, it comes as no surprise that the parent workshop was equally, if not more, rewarding. Positive reviews demonstrate how parents have become comfortable with using previously unfamiliar internet tools, and how they are more aware of how to monitor their children’s online activities.
The efforts of the youth to better themselves, as well as their communities, have not gone unnoticed. On December 22nd, 2010 the Social Media For Kids® participants were invited to The Food Network to meet the infamous Southwestern cuisine Chef Bobby Flay. In addition, discussions with the Reel Works filming team have taken place, in which a future opportunity to partner up has been suggested, as well as participation in an upcoming documentary.
Social Media for Kids® has gone above and beyond in educating both children and parents alike. The efforts of all those involved including the children, parents, educators, sponsors, and founders are helping this program reach its full potential and hoping that its mission will reach the masses and further enrich the community.

Nearly two months since the program’s launch, Social Media For Kids® has proven to be an effective and valuable asset to young social media users, as well as their concerned parents. The program has received much praise from advocates trying to fight the growing ‘cyber-bullying’ epidemic; the most recent mentions include the popular parent-friendly web blog, SocialMediaMom, and a segment by Fox 5 News reporter Lisa Evers, Street Soldiers, on 97.1 FM.
With Social Media For Kids® stirring up such positive reviews, it comes as no surprise that a deal was met with the prestigious Rose B. English Middle School; which was recently presented by Chancellor Klein (Department of Education) and GE with a grant as part of the campaign for middle school success. Keeping a similar vision in mind, Social Media For Kids® has continued to spread its message of positivity and safety through a series of interactive workshops. Chevez Sanchez (creative artist and graphic design professional), Zack Helwa (an active artist in New York City), and Julie Whitaker (web and social media strategist for US Doctors Without Borders) are but a few of the many figures whom have led memorable classes. With all the progress Social Media For Kids® has already made and the impact it has had on the children and parent’s lives alike, expansion is essential to reducing the ‘cyber-bullying’ issue and educating the youth on social media etiquette.

Almost a month since its launch, Social Media For Kids® has gained the attention of not only the community, but of media outlets aware of the growing influence of the internet on children’s lives. Such sources include: Social Media Mom, NYConvergence, Nostrand Park, and the New York Daily News.
In a recent New York Daily News exclusive, the practicality and convenience of the curriculum was shown to hold the interests of students and parents alike. For example, one Mott Hall Bridges Academy 6th grader excitedly stated, “When the course was offered, it felt different – and more practical than the usual math or social studies class. I was like, Okay, I can use that”(Oren Yaniv).
The reality that internet access is becoming easier with new innovations and technological advances, has brought to light the fact that the youth, as a whole, cannot be entirely cut off from a resource that is such an integral part of society. With this in mind Social Media For Kids® managed to open the lines of communication between parents, children, and the community- and has taken a preventive educational approach. Nostrand Park has touched on this, emphasizing how, “young people who may be targets of cyber-bullying or who just might not understand the power of social media for community building purposes, can benefit from a program like SMFK®”(Laurel B).
In a world where words can be manipulated within seconds and a paper-trail is always left behind, credibility and reputations are at stake. Social Media For Kids® aims to arm the youth with the knowledge and tools needed to positively promote themselves, raise awareness, and advance their communities.

The age of face-to-face social interaction has fallen with the birth of the internet; yet people have managed to stay even more connected and involved in each other’s lives through mass forms of web-based communication including: Facebook, Twitter, instant messaging, blogs, Skype, etc… Whether it’s a quick exchange of words or simply posting photos of a previous night’s exuberant festivities-the main point that most people (especially the millennial generation) forget is: Once you post something online, it is there forever. The value of words are harsh enough as it is; the child once taunted by a bully on the playground is now slandered through the click of a button for the world to see. Recent events such as the widely publicized suicide of Rutgers student, Tyler Clementi, have fully exposed the exponential growing rate of cyber bullying.
In an effort to educate both children and families on how to use web-based media outlets in the appropriate manner and to raise awareness on the consequences of all online actions, Garnett Alcindor (CEO of Collective Concept PR), Casey Miller (owner of Casey Miller Consulting), Michael Fink (taught at NYU and worked at ABC & PBS), and Nadia Lopez (Principal of Mott Hall Bridges Academy), have teamed up to create the vital program, Social Media For Kids®. Being the first program of its kind, Social Media For Kids®, educates children how to promote themselves in a positive light, enabling the “safe use of social media outlets as learning tools”, while meeting the New York State educational standards.(See Press Release). Mott Hall Bridges Academy places itself on the forefront of this social media movement in being the first NYC Board of Education school, to incorporate Social Media For Kids® into its curriculum. The program will be launched on Tuesday, October 12th, 2010.
In addition, Social Media For Kids® sponsors are currently conducting outreach in order to raise $5,000 to go towards the creation of an after-school program that will equip the children of the diverse Crown Height community with the tools needed to safely and productively use the internet.
Social Media for Kids® is available for schools, communities and parent groups throughout the United States.
Collective Concept PR is proud to work with, Social Media For Kids®. With parents working hand-in-hand with educators and social media experts, Our Children, Our Future, will be able understand and handle the responsibility that comes with the use of social media outlets, using it towards their academic advancements, and bettering their communities.

With so many eager to experience Tai Chunn’s fashion event taking place on 550 Madison Avenue, swarms of people are viewing Byron Lars’s new collection in rotations. The event is proving to be huge success for all involved. Collective Concept PR is continuously conducting interviews, posting professional photographs as well as behind the scene footage on the CCPR Facebook Fan Page , tweeting, and updating blogposts throughout the entire event. The energy is rising, almost to a boiling point, as new models walk in draped in clothes that cleanse the focal palate. Black and white patterns, stripes, and champagne colors are accented with bold accessories including bows, 3 finger rings, and hair pieces that scream haute-couture. On the PR end, the opportunity to network creates the appearance of worker bees in a hive. Laughter, dancing, introductions, and admiration of the elegant clothing line-marks this as the event to attend on this year’s #FashionsNightOut!

On this cool September evening, posh 5th Avenue is lined with New York’s most devout fashionistas hoping to partake in the festivities encompassing Fashion’s Night Out. The rhythm created by the impact of stilettos on concrete, sets the soundtrack for the night as well as the entirety of Fashion Week. However this is only the view from the streets; for within the chic stores-a hidden world is unveiled. Reporting from within Byron Lars’s Fashion Night Out, directed by none other than highly recognized fashion icon Tai Chunn, the chaos that takes place behind the scenes sets the pace for a successful event. Loud pulsing music, the strobe light effect created by flashing cameras, and the statuesque models propped on pedestals exhibiting this year’s most coveted styles, creates a euphoric feeling of excitement felt by those attending Tai Chunn’s fashion event. What many do not know, is the effort and time placed into making a show of this magnitude run smoothly. Even with teams of make-up artists, hair stylists, assistants, etc…exposure is the key to success. Collective Concept PR is a company that understands the correlation between your success and timing. Collective Concept PR can pride itself in being the only public relations company that is doing live, up-to-the-minute updates on anything and everything taking place NOW. So if you’re ready to see your success skyrocket, hire a truly dedicated team that knows the in’s and out’s of PR and willing to work with you every step of the way.

Within recent years, global awareness regarding limited resources and a growing population has become a trending topic. This in itself has integrated words such as sustainability, going green, and alternate energy sources, into the vocabulary of an environmentally conscious generation. The overproduction and use of paper based products for mass distribution is not only less successful now (in the booming internet era) but also wasteful. According to Ecology.com, a leading international network focusing on environmental activities, “nearly 4 billion trees or 35% of the total trees cut around the world are used in paper industries”. Instead of contributing to these growing figures, businesses should shift more of their focus towards web pr. With the ability to create web pages and directly communicate with billions of consumers online, the chances of enhancing a business are exponential. Collective Concept PR fully understands the importance of planting a seed and watching a business grow. For example, by targeting issues that affect every audience equally, such as the environment (because we only have one Earth after all), companies have been able to broaden their clientele. Such examples include the website Chegg.com, which initially focused on textbook rentals but quickly gained popularity amongst environmentally aware college students with their promise to “plant one tree for every textbook that is loaned”. Unlike other web PR firms, we bring the humanity back into the business and look forward to your growth and hard-earned success. At the end of the day, Collect Concept PR will reach beyond your expectations and bring in that much needed ray of sunshine to any establishment.
