Brooklyn, NY, January 10, 2011- Newspaper articles, interviews with popular new channels, and meeting with politicians such as Assemblyman Karim Camara and New Jersey Senator Sandra B. Cunningham, are but a few of the accomplishments attained by the diligent team behind Social Media For Kids®. A program unlike any other, Social Media For Kid’s® mission involves using internet based media platforms to educate children on how to promote themselves in positive light. In an age when rapidly advancing technology is outgrowing adult users, Social Media For Kids® works on preventing misuse of social media networks by opening the lines of cyber-communication between parents and their tech-savvy youth.
With a clear understanding of the major role technology has taken in our daily lives, several schools have reached out to Social Media For Kids® for support. After several talks with Dr. Appea, principal of Dr. Rose B. English School, it has been confirmed that beginning on February 3rd, 2011 from 1:00-2:30pm Social Media For Kids® will officially be a part of the school’s daily curriculum.
Similarly, Mott Hall Bridges Academy, the pioneer school to have this program in its educational program, is striving to get the participants even more involved through the introduction of new technological developments. Principal Nadia Lopez has purchased IPads
As successful as this program is, it comes as no surprise that the parent workshop was equally, if not more, rewarding. Positive reviews demonstrate how parents have become comfortable with using previously unfamiliar internet tools, and how they are more aware of how to monitor their children’s online activities.
The efforts of the youth to better themselves, as well as their communities, have not gone unnoticed. On December 22nd, 2010 the Social Media For Kids® participants were invited to The Food Network to meet the infamous Southwestern cuisine Chef Bobby Flay. In addition, discussions with the Reel Works filming team have taken place, in which a future opportunity to partner up has been suggested, as well as participation in an upcoming documentary.
Social Media for Kids® has gone above and beyond in educating both children and parents alike. The efforts of all those involved including the children, parents, educators, sponsors, and founders are helping this program reach its full potential and hoping that its mission will reach the masses and further enrich the community.
ABOUT TIME BOUTIQUE & THE CROW HILL ASSOCIATION have come together for the annual Kid’s Day event which will be held on July 24th, 2010. Below is the official press release for the event and an official video of the fundraising done by the children leading up to the event.
ABOUT TIME BOUTIQUE & The Crow Hill Association’s Annual Kid’s Day Event
(July 9, 2010) In keeping with the tradition of giving back to the community the owner of About Time Boutique, Kevin Phillip decided three years ago to host a annual Kid’s Day Event. Phillip is immensely family oriented, it’s commonplace to see his young son, Logan in the boutique with him. Phillip believes wholeheartedly in giving back to his community and supporting his patrons and having his neighborhood come together and support each other.
Kid’s Day is for the children of the community, as the name obviously implies. In the months leading up to the fun-filled day of activities, food, games, and quality time the children of the neighborhood actually fundraise for their own event. Certain weekends of the month you can find children in front of About Time Boutique, heavily fundraising to pay for their much-anticipated event.
There has been media coverage on event recently; it was even discussed on Channel 12 NEWS. Council Member Leticia James has also donated to the Kids Day Event, this year promises to be larger than the past two years. Especially with the addition of the Crow Hill Association as a head sponsor because they have been backing him and his philanthropist efforts from day one. About Time Boutique’s goal is to enlighten the community and make it a better place as much as possible, so it was only right that Crow Hill was brought on.
July 24th, 2010 promises to be a successful and action-packed day filled with positivity and good vibes. The children involved are ecstatic that the event is rapidly approaching and the people of the community love being involved in this event.

“The first time that Afua heard that she had a great sense of color at the age of 4, she knew her talents would lead her to greatness in the art/design world. Drawing has always been her blood, literally. She inherited the graphing skills from her paternal family lineage and in particular her love for design was inspired by her father who had a great sense of style and a flair for dressing not only himself but his one and only “beloved daughter.” She would eventually go on to develop her skills through Artist in Co. in Detroit, MI- an art school for young artists, Interlochen Arts Academy- an institution that brings young talent from across the world developing their gift- there majoring in Visual Arts, and finally Parsons School of Design-entering into the most renowned school that produce the greatest designers in the world.
After graduating in 2001 with a BFA in Fashion Design from Parsons, Afua began her career as a design assistant in various design houses including Nesi Apparel, Tommy Hilfiger, Banana Republic, and finally at the Gap where she excelled in all aspects of mens woven design including outerwear, woven-tops, and bottoms. But limiting skills just to the day to day corporate routine proved not to be the end all to be all, to her the sky is the limit. Now Afua is designing her on her own terms and has developed a partnership with Krow Hill/About Time Boutique as their Designer where she is not only coming into her own greatness as a well rounded fashion designer but is aiding in the establishment of Crown Heights and Brooklyn as a whole to the forefront of entrepreneurship. Also, be on the look out for “Signature Silk Designs,” where form meets fashion and invention in the creation of silk lined hats. ”

Just in time ABOUT TIME BOUTIQUE decides to go green.
(May 26, 2010) The environmentally conscious owner of About Time Boutique, Kevin Phillips, has finally decided to join the Green movement. Phillips prides himself on keeping abreast of current events and being a conscious member of his community having participated in countless charity events to benefit his community; so it was imminent that he would eventually take his company green. The recent oil spill in the Gulf persuaded him to speed up the process of producing his t-shirts in an organic manner. He has decided to forgo the use of PVC based ink and will begin using water based ink; which is eco-friendly and keeps the t-shirt design aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
Not only is he doing the environment a service, he is also on the cutting edge of the Green movement in his area of Brooklyn, NY. There are not many stores in the area, which have decided to be on the cusp of this new Green movement. The benefits of using water based ink are plentiful and uncomplicated to obtain. When using water based ink, there are no toxic fumes being released into the atmosphere, which was a great concern for Phillips because his immediate atmosphere is his workspace. Also, the screens can be easily cleaned with water and can safely go down the drain because they are no more harmful that your normal household cleaners. While these two facts are extremely important, the selling point for Phillips was that the use of water based ink will not diminish the quality of his t-shirts. The colors of water based ink are more vibrant, the ink itself is extremely durable, and lightweight which will provide optimum comfort to the wearer.
About Time Boutique is ecstatic to provide customers with an environmentally friendly alternative to t-shirt wearing, while still keeping the designs fashion-forward and street savvy. For additional environment please visit the About Time Boutique website http://www.abouttimeboutique.com/ or for a more hands-on experience the store is conveniently located at 736A Franklin Ave. (Between Park and Sterling) Brooklyn. Hi my name is Marie the new intern for CCPR & this is my first project!!! I realized hard work is what it takes to be a great public relations rep. Besides the glamor and fun there is a lot of work to be done before you can accomplish a great show. All together fashion week had me breathless, there were designs from Krow Hill, Cyn & Luca and Teri stevens of Project Run Way. This was Tai Chunn’s 4th successful show who was also apart of the production team for Oscar De La Renta , Miss Sixty and several other heavy hitters. You wonder how can one person manage the casting & styling of Sex and The City Pt.2 (co-stars) and have time to coordinate such an amazing show. Like Tai Chunn’s passion, we have our own passion for fashion PR. The pressure behind the scenes is amazing and unreal…. i can’t wait for the next show!
As a new company the good folks at CCPR are learning the ins and outs and trying to figure out what works. We’ve noticed that blogging is extremely important to a business.
