AM New York Recognizes AboutTime Boutique

Monday, July 19th, 2010

During the morning rush hour, as hectic commuters make their way through the impossibly crowded train stations, they are always seen to be armed with a copy of the widely distributed AM New York. Today at AboutTime Boutique, AM New York photographer Andrew Hinderaker dropped by to interview owner Kevin Phillip, in addition to documenting the much buzzed about Crown Heights boutique. The prominent role AboutTime is playing within the community as well as the positive opportunities they are presenting to young impressionable minds, which is reflected in their annual summer youth internships, has gained further recognition. For years AboutTime Boutique has sponsored events that can be branded as philanthropic, in that they unite a diverse growing community. An example of an aforementioned event includes the up and coming 3rd Annual Kids Day, which will be held this Saturday July 24th between 9AM-5PM on Franklin Avenue (Between Park& Sterling Pl.). Come out and support the Crown Heights Community and don’t forget to look for the AboutTime Boutique article in Thursday’s AM New York.

Get Ink’d at Brooklyn Ink

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Today’s culture is a reflection of the individuality and creativity embraced by a new generation. They are the artists without limits, bringing to the table a revised form of Dadaism (an early 20th century cultural movement focused on irrationality and nonconformity) with its most prominent form displayed on the skin of countless individuals through permanently tattooed images and piercings. So for those privileged enough to live in Crown Heights look no further than Brooklyn Ink located at 717 Franklin Avenue. Unlike most tattoo parlors where a potential client is greeted with intimidation, the artists at Brooklyn Ink are more than welcoming with open sketchpads and friendly smiles. Combing creativity with the confidence needed to create an image that will forever be on their canvases, the tattoo artists at Brooklyn Ink understand the importance and significance this ancient craft is about. They are even willing to work with anyone in order to create a custom design to their liking. Brooklyn Ink is a reflection of how a subculture can effectively unite a diverse community through a love of art.

PR and Marketing: The Make or Break Factor

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Staying in touch with your customer base is the key to building success and maintaining loyalties. This is where PR and marketing teams, such as Collective Concept PR, step in. Those who are responsible for managing and branding the name of a company are the ones who determine whether it will thrive or become another casualty of the current recession. It is the ability to keep a strong business façade while balancing the concerns of the customers that enables people to choose and trust one company over another. A recent example of this was seen with the release of the Iphone 4. Last week, the Boy Genius Report, a well-known technology weblog, reported how “Apple’s (mis)management of the situation involving the Iphone 4′s glitch created a lose-lose situation”. Had Apple’s marketing team properly advised them to be transparent about the antenna issue from the beginning, it would’ve have most likely received less negative reviews, while remaining honest with their customer base-in effect losing less patrons as well as profits. As a business owner, make sure to choose a PR and marketing company that corresponds to your needs, ensuring the success of your product. We at Collective Concept PR understand the importance of branding and the significance reputation plays in the establishment of any new enterprise. Don’t allow just anyone to take charge of your PR-place the responsibility in the hands of someone you can trust to lead you in the right direction. www.collectiveconceptpr.com

The Importance of Blogging

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

In a time when everyone is wired, making your internet presence known is essential to the survival and advancement of any business. The vitality of staying connected can be seen at every glance especially in a city as hooked as New York. Blackberries, IPads, and Netbooks are only a few of the tools this generation has armed itself with, sealing its reputation as the most accessible progeny. Generation Y has embodied the basic rights the American society was founded on. In advancing technology, ultimately leading to its dependence, anyone with an internet connection has the ability to exercise their freedoms by voicing their opinions to the masses. Businesses have caught on to this trend and rightfully manipulated it. Blogging now allows businesses to build their fan-base by establishing a connection on a personal level with the chosen consumers. Without the ability to stay connected to the masses, employers will remain unknown-without a voice, cause, or an audience.
Any business owner seeking to brand, promote, or advertise their business should have daily conversations that include the current internet savvy lingo. Popular social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook have coined phrases such as “Tweet me”, “Follow Me” or “DM any info”; “Check out our Facebook Like Page, and let’s not forget the burning question, “Are you LinkedIn”? Likewise, with almost every handheld device housing internet capability, apps such as “BBM” have created even more convenient methods of communication. On the same note, businesses will greatly prosper by notifying their busy clients on the ease of reading “posts” through the “RSS Feed” from that specific business’s “blog”.
If you find yourself a little confused by these terminologies, please take the time out to hire a Collective Concept PR representative… “LOL” (Laughing Out Loud). Just a joke… but honestly… if you are a business owner you need a strong web presence! It’s okay to feel a little behind; however, it is NOT okay to STAY behind. Let us take you forward. www.collectiveconceptpr.com

Chavella’s Owner, Arturo Leonar, Bringing a Little Piece of Mexico to Franklin Ave

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Crown Heights has been noted for its growing diversity and with that, an expanding pallet. With restaurants lining the entirety of Franklin Avenue, residents are still looking for that rare exotic flavor. There has been a buzz surrounding the opening of Arturo Leonar‘s new restaurant, which will be located on the corner of Franklin Avenue and Sterling Place, right next to AboutTime Boutique. The expectations are high and with the successful track record held by Leonar’s top-rated restaurant, Chavella’s, the end result looks promising. Arturo Leonar is a master at his craft, managing to infuse the authentic Mexican flavors of his food with the memories he attained growing up in Mexico City. He has transformed typical Mexican street food, such as Chorizo Tostadas and Torta de Aguacate con Queso, and refined it in an elegant perfectly executed manner while keeping its notable Latin heat. While satisfying the appetites of adventurous patrons, Leonar has been able to bring to life an aesthetically pleasing vision (with the presentation of flags, dramatic colors, and tiffany inspired lamps) making any diner feel as though they were savoring a zesty meal in a small town in Mexico. Likewise, the presentation of the entire menu in Spanish compliments and defines Chavella’s as a culturally invigorating restaurant experience. With this, Franklin Avenue welcomes Arturo Leonar’s new restaurant with open arms.

The Pulp & The Bean

The Pulp & The Bean, one of the many stores located on Franklin Ave, has lived up to its name with several pleasing reviews since its opening on October 2009. With its convenient location and proximity to the 2,3,4,5 and S trains, The Pulp & The Bean is one of the more accessible wi-fi attainable coffee shops in the neighborhood. As for the products themselves, The Pulp & The Bean should be noted for its wonderfully rich Mocha Lattes. In the mood for a refreshingly fruity beverage? Then try the newly advertised Mango Frappe. In addition, the pricing is affordable and won’t burn a hole in your pocket. So if you’re looking for wonderful quality and service worth your buck, then come on down to The Pulp & The Bean.

A Stitching Good Time

Friday, July 9th, 2010

The opportunity to explore new creative outlets in the comfort of a warm environment filled with friendly faces was the scene yesterday at LaunchPad, a gathering located at 721 Franklin Avenue. With the tight pinch of the economy affecting everyone including the residents of the Crow Hill community, it was more than delightful to know that LaunchPad was offering free sewing lessons to anyone willing to pick up a needle and a thread. Hearty laughter, even in the midst of the occasional prick of a needle, encouraged all participants to strive for embroidered perfection. As the clock hit 10pm, the class came to an end leaving behind a trail of newfound friends, stitching success, and a want for more. With this, LaunchPad offers a variety of free courses, including the newly offered Pilates Mat classes on Sundays between 2-3 PM, starting July 11. Although the courses are free of charge, donations are appreciated, so even the smallest tip goes a long way especially in keeping. So if you find yourself with some free time during the week, get ready to make some new friends and have a guaranteed good time.
